Thunder Alley Dragway Oct.5th! Action Packed Day!! Finished up the August race, ran the October race, and ran the points championship off. Which was taken by Greg Woolfolk! Robert Nichols, JR Mijares and Greg ran off for the SDRA Track Championship. Congrats Greg, you're an awesome racer! Sorry fellas, but I did not get very many pictures as I actually made it though a few rounds this race. It's pretty sad as I realize I have a lot of pictures for every other race! It has got to be the coolest thing to show up to the race track for a double race event and end up winning both! JR Mijares took out Russell Hudson in the Pro Finals of the first race. He then battled through the rounds of the second race and took out John Baird in the his 67 Camaro in the finals. This was John's first time to make it to the final round. This is a huge accomplishment as this makes 4 wins in a row at Thunder Alley! There were only 30 cars signed up for the second race so Joe decided to combine the classes and keep the full payout in one class instead of pro rating the two. Honestly, I thought it was an unfair decision at first. I was thinking - what kind of chance do we foot brake guys have against a delay box dragster? Well it turned out to be pretty close as there were a lot of modified cars going a few rounds. I even had a pretty close run with JR, I'm gonna get you next time sucka!
Russell Hudson is definately one of the heavy hitters in Pro. But unlike the other top racers in the class, Russell Hudson has no delay box. He has made it to finals all ready once this season. But this race turned out to be a rerun of July's final. Unfortunately for Russell he came out on the losing end of a close final round for the second time this year against JR. Then to make it even worse, he lost to JR again in the second race of the day. Russell's footbraking came up short of JR's delay box twice in one day. Pro semis and final round results to come soon!
MODIFIED Race Results and more! Robert Nichols is the 2002 SDRA Modified Points Champion just edging out Eddie Chacon of Dell City. Eddie and Robert ran in the third round, the winner would be the Mod Champ. Eddie pushed the tree and cut a .497 red light. Ray V. (not even gonna try to spell his last name!) took me out in the Finals of Modified. Ray and I both had an unusual string of very good lights to make it to the finals. I know he cut two .503's and a .507 in eliminations. Speaking of cutting killer lights, in time trials Bruce Thomas cut a .502 and a .498 in his first two time trials. The car even ran it's fastest passes ever on these two runs------ THEN IT BLEW UP!!!! This was a new motor that he just got in it a couple moths ago. Russell Hudson was sporting his enclosed trailer and crew cab truck that he recntly picked up. A flamed hot rod tow truck towing an enclosed trailer.... cool!
