Friday Night Drags Thunder Alley 5-31-02 Race cars, race cars, race cars! It was a good night to be out at the Friday night drags. There were quite a few race cars out there which definately made it worth going out to watch. Sammy Franco made it out with the original "Fireball" Nova and ran a string 10.7's. Good to see him out there again, but what happened with the "Fireball" on the door Sammy? Ernie and JR Mijarez just missed lighting the scoreboards with an 8 second pass. The 9.04 at 149 mph is enough proof that an 8 will happen on race day with some better traction. JD St.Cyr had Pops Kirkwood's 86 Mustang GT in the 10.6's and ran a few grudge matches with his dad Peanuts St.Cyr in his Vega. The father/son match races were close runs, with one race within a .10 of a second. Gary Hill also had his Mustang out trying out some suspension changes that turned out not to work as well as expected, but I'm sure it will be fixed before the June 8th race. From the looks of Friday, the June 8th race should be pretty good. |
