ARROYO
SECO Oct. 19th 3
Oil Downs and the timing lights getting run over made it a long day at
the races- but there was some exciting racing going on - especially in
the Points races. Arroyo Seco points to come.
SDRA
POINTS- "It was down the Final Round of the last Race of the season,
and..." Joe Alvarado was 30 points down from his
cousin JR Mijares going into this race. Since this was a double points
race Joe had to go 3 more rounds than JR Mijares did. Well, Alvarado went
2 rounds more than Mijares and made it to the finals where he could win
the race and the SDRA PRO points championship. Unfortunately we have to
wait to find out who's going to win this since the final round could'nt
be run. Then to add to the Points race excitement, Eddie Cordero and Ray
Villareal are still tied for Mod Points! Ray had to go just one more round
than Eddie and he did it! So it ended up being a tie! (Both
of them lost to Rodney Ward) Get the official low down
at the SDRA wabsite - www.SDRA.biz
All
of the classes finished up except the Pro class. Pro made it down to the
finals but the daylight was gone when they pulled up to race.
It
was Joe Alvarado in his new Don Davis Dragster vs. Andy
Avila with the wicked launching pink RGB Chevelle in the Pro
Final. Rodney Ward takes the Mod class while father Ward
took the street class in the Killer Corsica!
Mod
Finals - Rodney Ward took out both of the SDRA Mod points leaders
on his way to the finals. This guy is tough!
Motorcyle
Finals - 19 bikes! The biggest bike showing I've ever seen at
Arroyo Seco. KC
Parks from Alamagordo took the motorcylce class over Kevin
Dieter. This was Kevin's his first time out! Kevin was driving
a 2003 Kawasaki zzr1200
and Bion Bell took 3rd.
Pro
Semis Joe Alvarado
Pro
Semis John Walls was in his winning groove, but a .499 light
ended his day against Andy Avila in the semis.

Motorcycle
Semis
KC
Parks from Alamagordo in Motorcycle.
The
Sandoval's brought out their Blown Alcohol Funny Car and
made a test pass but popped something around half track.
Eddie
Cordero was leading the SDRA points going into the race and finshed
tied up with Ray Villareal. They also got a new sponsor JC Plumbing.
Kim
"Kim Possible" Holliday in her 72 Chevelle won the
Dash for Cash running a perfect 16.550 on a 16.55 dial!
Tony
Leyba won the Reaction Time Contest with a .503 barely beating
out Harry Groesel's .504 light. Tony won a free entry to the next race.
Pretty good considering he just retired.
Scott
over at Don Davis Race Cars brought out the new street version
of the famous Don Davis Raodster. Scott drives this car everyday and even
drove it out there.
Louie
Vasquez, of El Paso, brought out his new ride, a Monte Carlo
SS. It was running consistant 11.60's all the way to the quarterfinals.
Robert

George
Aguilar
A
lot of Bikes! I think
this is the most bikes I've seen at an Arroyo race.
